Invitation from the Congress Chairman
It is my special pleasure to invite you to Melbourne
for the 10th World Congress of Endometriosis, March 11-14, 2008.
Melbourne has been voted “the world's most liveable city”.
It is capital of the State of Victoria, and home to over 3 million
people. It is my home. If you have not visited before, we welcome
you to sample our arts, our 76 cuisines, our shopping, our culture
and our sport. If you have toured previously, we welcome you back
as old friends, to enjoy again our multicultural lifestyle and our
wonderful climate.
The Program Chairmen, and all committees and endometriosis patient
associations, have worked for ‘WCE 2008’ with skill,
excitement and fun to craft a scientific and clinical program of
21C world leaders on endometriosis. We trust this concentration of
experts will help improve prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care,
for all patients with endometriosis and their families.
We are most grateful to all patients, to
WES and AGES, to our wider scientific and
clinical colleagues, and to the outstanding
support from our industry partners, for
providing us this opportunity to showcase
Australia.
We welcome the chance to show you the Art and Science of Endometriosis
in Melbourne in 2008!
Professor David Healy
Chairman
WCE 2008
Message from the President of the World
Endometriosis Society
It is with great pleasure that I would like to
invite you to the next World Congress on Endometriosis (WCE) in Melbourne,
Australia in March 2008. This congress will be a very special event
as 2008 marks our tenth WCE. Our colleagues from “Downunder” have
prepared us a fantastic reception and scientific program.
Endometriosis is still an enigmatic disease and the World Endometriosis
Society is the best forum for exchanging on the latest discoveries
in the different aspects of this pathology. The scientific committee
has prepared a great program. From epidemiology and basic sciences
to clinical trials and new diagnostic tools and drugs, the Xth WCE
will offer to participants, facts and trends in the management of
this disease and practical solutions to its main symptoms: pain,
infertility.
Take this opportunity to come to Australia. It has everything to
offer: fabulous landscapes, good food and wine, diversity and especially
marvellous people.
2008 is our Xth World Congress on Endometriosis.
We consider this a very special and unique
occasion that every practitioner interested
by this pathology should attend. Come and
join us! The World Endometriosis Society
is waiting for you at the next World Congress
on Endometriosis.
Professor Rodolphe Maheux [Dec'd]
President
World Endometriosis Society
Message from the President of the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy
Society
The Australian Gynaecological
Endoscopy Society (AGES) is most honoured
to have been awarded the privilege of hosting
the 10th World Congress of Endometriosis
in Melbourne in 2008. Our Society represents
two thirds of the operating gynaecologists
in Australia. Since its inception fifteen
years ago, the treatment of endometriosis
has been a major part of our activity.
The AGES Clinical Research Fund has financed
a large number of clinical research projects
on this important topic. Many of our prominent
members are recognised internationally,
as experts in the field of endometriosis.
AGES has fostered a close,
ongoing relationship with international societies such as the International
Society for Gynecological Endoscopy (ISGE), The AAGL, the British
Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE) and the Asia Pacific Association
of Gynaecological Endoscopy (APAGE). In recent years, we have conducted
combined meetings with these prominent organisations and we are looking
forward to hosting the WCE with the World Endometriosis Society.
Our
preparations are well advanced for what promises to be a superb congress.
I hereby invite you to join us in Melbourne on March 11th to 14th
2008 for what promises to be a wonderful occasion.
Robert O’Shea
Immediate Past President AGES
